Context

More and more people in France live with a long-term condition (ALD) or are in remission. They need tailored support to break isolation and prevent relapse.

Goal

Build a public-interest venture: an app that supports patients day to day, and serves caregivers too.

Outcome

A prototype tested with patients, a design system, a beta-tester community and a project incubated by the State.

The context

With a growing number of people living with long-term conditions in France, and more diagnoses of remission, patients need strong psychological and emotional support to fight isolation and prevent relapse.

Ernest is a mobile app that supports people with long-term conditions through their recovery, with emotional and practical help delivered through a personalised experience.

The goal

Build a genuine, public-interest venture that takes a systemic approach and serves both patients and healthcare professionals.

Ernest is grounded in a nationwide finding and positions itself as a relapse-prevention tool that breaks patients’ isolation: a true everyday companion.

My role & approach

I led the project end to end, from research and strategy through to design and testing.

  • Wireframes
  • A consistent design system
  • High-fidelity screens
04

What I took away

  • Meet users’ needs in the field, in direct contact with them
  • Challenge the initial idea, and don’t shy away from pivoting
  • Look at a project as a whole, at a systemic level
  • Move step by step, with a long-term vision
  • The value of agile project management
  • Keep design milestones in sync with business goals
